J.K.Chabbra Sr.DDG (Per) promoted as Advisor, SNEA was invited as the Association representing officers. Director (Planning), Director (Operations), Director (HRD), Director (Finance), Jt. DDG (Per), New Sr.DDG(Per) Shri.N.D.Grover, Sr.DDG( Restructuring) , DDG (Admn), DDG (SR), DDG (Finance) and Unions & SNEA representatives participated in the meeting. Informal discussions were held on the financial viability of BSNL. |

SNEA(I), MTNL EA Delhi and Mumbai units, ITSA and BSNL EU in the presence of Dr. Ashok Rao Secretary General of Confederation of PSU Executives held preliminary discussions to evolve a common minimum programme to highlight to the Government the strong views of the Employees on the following points (1) Merger of BSNL and MTNL - On the basis of the report submitted by the High Power Committee headed by the Chairman Telecom Commission, CMDs of MTNL and BSNL and Member (Finance). The Committee submitted a unanimous report recommending the merger. This committee was appointed at the instance of the Prime Ministers Office and there is no going back of the unanimous recommendations. (2) Financial viability of BSNL and MTNL (3) Disinvestment - Employees of the two companies are strongly oppose to any thoughts on disinvestment of the two companies. (4) Pension - Should be paid entirely by the Govt. from the consolidated fund of the Govt. It was decided to meet again on 17th Nov 2003 at 3.00 pm to finalise the programme and to form the strategies. |

Com.V.K.Tomar were formerly invited by the Union Cabinet Minister for
Labour Sh. Sahib Singh Verma on 11-11-2003. The meeting which commence at
4.30 pm was also attended by Secretary Labour Ministry Dr.P.D.Shenoy,
Addl.Labour Secretary, Joint Secretaries, and Deputy Secretaries.
The major items discussed in the
meeting which lasted for 40 minutes were (1)
Lifting
of ceiling on gratuity
- the Minister assured that the matter would be examined and positive
decision taken. (2)
Consultative process in Management for middle level Management cadre in PSUs
- Till now formal channel of communication with the Management was not
available for Executives and Middle level Managers in PSUs. The Minister
agreed with us that the Executives and Middle level Managers will be
involved in the consultative process in management and formal channel of
communication should be accorded to them also. He directed Dr.P.D.Shenoy
Secretary to process the case immediately for positive consideration and
issue of necessary orders in this regard. This is a vital break through and
major victory for the Association of Executives and middle level managers in
PSUs. Secretary Labour Ministry Dr.P.D.Shenoy also held a separate meeting with the leaders to initiate the process. |
GS Com.G.L.Jogi, VP Com.A.A.Khan, AGS Com.Sukhvir Singh held discussions with Advisor (HRD) on 11-11-2003 on (1) Pending absorption issues (2) Option to continue in CDA scale till next promotion. - Advisor HRD concurred with our views and promised to initiate action accordingly (3) Promotion of SDE to Adhoc DEs for the existing vacancies - Adv (HRD) agreed to expedite positive action (4) Regular promotion of JTOs to SDEs - Adv (HRD) promised positive and quick action. |
